The 7 Best Apps For Photo Editing

I love, love, love to take photos. Most of the time I drag my big ol’ DSLR camera along with me when I go somewhere and I edit those photos in Photoshop. But sometimes, the convenience of being able to bring your phone with you to take pictures just makes so much more sense. It is great to be able to kick things up a notch too with photo editing apps! You can brighten up a dark photo, or add some fun text or filters to give your photo a little flare. So today, I’m sharing the 7 Best Apps for Photo Editing. (I use the following apps on my iPhone, but some may be available on other devices.)

7 Best Apps For Photo Editing

Camera+ by tap tap tap – Camera+ is an amazingly awesome app that allows you to have more control over your camera settings than the regular camera on your phone. It has really good manual mode settings which allows you to take beautiful photos in all sorts of different lighting scenarios. Plus, there are a lot of extra filters and options to help your pictures POP!

Adobe Photoshop Express by Adobe – The Adobe Photoshop Express has many great features, but I think my favorite would have to be the blemish removal tool. I’m not a fan of editing out permanent facial features (see my wrinkles!) or making people skinnier, but this option is perfect for removing that scary, huge pimple that popped up over night or those few crumbs you didn’t notice on the floor before you snapped your photo. (Luckily, I didn’t have any zits at the time of this pic!)

Pic Tap Go by Totally Rad! Inc. – This is my favorite, most used photography app. I love that I can quickly load a photo into Pic Tap Go and apply a few filters or crop in no time at all. Usually, I just brighten and sharpen, since I love my photos to pop with color. However, there are a lot of fun options to choose from (which you can preview before you even apply) if you want to go for a vintage or black and white look as well.

VSCO by Visual Supply Company – I love VSCO because it is so simple and the results are almost always beautiful. The app is super user friendly, with easy to use controls and lovely filters that can subtly accent your photos.

    Processed with VSCO

Rhonna Designs by Rhonna Farrer – If you want to add pretty graphics and text to your pictures, Rhonna Designs is definitely the way to go. There are tons of gorgeous font options and designs that can help you create beautiful and unique graphic photos.

Waterlogue by Tinrocket, LLC – Sometimes it’s fun to get a little artistic with your photos and Waterlogue is the perfect way to turn your pictures into art. This app takes your photos and, with the just the click of a button, changes them into beautiful watercolors. This photo started out as white plain flowers outside of our home, but now it looks like it was painted by an artist. So pretty!

Moldiv by JellyBus Inc. – This last app is great if you want to showcase several photos at once in a collage. Moldiv can stitch together a grouping of photos (like a this set from my home tour) and there are tons of combinations to choose from, which is perfect for sharing on social media, i.e. Facebook, Instagram, etc.

I love how using an app to edit photos can give it just that little extra oomph! What are your favorite photo editing apps? Do you use any of these? I would to hear your recommendations in the comments below!

    Script Number Chairs

Oh my goodness! This past weekend/week have been crazy for us. I have so much to catch you up on, but that is for another post sometime in the future! Did you happen to catch my Spring Fling Home Tour last week? I shared a few rooms in our home, along with some major updates to our kitchen. I also showed our new breakfast nook set up, which included these pretty white Script Number Chairs.

Windows Wall Decor in Dining Room

A long time ago, I talked about wanting to replace or paint the cross back chairs we had, but I was lazy busy and have not really had time to do anything to them. And then I happened to stumble upon these white beauties.

    Four White Chairs

I actually found them at a garage sale for $1 each and for that price, I could not pass them up. Their chippy paint and curvy backs were just screaming my name. Once I got them home, I didn’t really know what I would do with them, since we already had chairs that we were OK with. That is until I saw this photo on Pinterest and I knew I wanted to add some script-y numbers to the white chairs.

    White Chairs Garage Sale $1

The process to add the numbers was pretty simple and one that I had never tried before. I purchased some transfer paper from the craft store and got to work.

    Script Numbers and Graphite Paper

The font I used for the text was Edwardian Script (I did not trace the first little curl on the letters) and I printed the numbers out onto regular ol’ printer paper. After cutting each grouping out, I placed the printed paper over the top of the transfer paper and attached both to the backs of the chairs with some painter’s tape I had on hand.

    Tracing Paper Transfer To Wood

Next, I traced over each of the letters and numbers with a Jurassic World pencil. Unfortunately, I could not find a small enough paint brush for this project, so I improvised and used my handy-dandy Jurassic World pencil to also “paint” on the numbers with black acrylic paint. I just dipped my pencil tip in the paint, let it dry, then dipped it again into wet paint and started to go over the text. It wasn’t maybe the easiest of processes, but it wasn’t too hard either. I just had to keep dipping back into the paint.

    Paint With A Pencil

I feel like the text turned out so pretty and delicate on the chairs. It is not a perfectly stenciled image and certainly looks more hand drawn, but I think that it brings a certain charm to each seat.

And using the transfer paper may be my favorite new way to get text/images onto a painted or wood surface. (I’ve tried many techniques before, most of which worked wonderfully. See links below.)

I love adding text to decor. What do you think? Do you enjoy a number here or there? Maybe a favorite word or saying? I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!

    3 Things I’m Lovin’ – No. 2

Welcome to the 2nd edition of 3 Things I’m Lovin’, where once a month I share a few of things I can’t get enough of! I enjoy seeing what other people like; the things that they’ve tried/tested out and are in love with. It is so fun to get ideas and learn about new products, experiences, and even perspectives. So, I will tell you about the 3 things I’m lovin’ this month and I hope you will share with me what you are diggin’ too! (Check out last month’s list by clicking here.)

    No. 1 – Spring Blooms/Blossoms

Things I'm Lovin' - White Hydrangeas

I love fresh flowers and with spring finally here, I’m taking advantage of them the best that I can. As you may know from Instagram, our cat Rowan enjoys demolishing real flowers, so they don’t stay around long, but I’ve found that if I’m leaving the house, I can just pop the bouquet (vase and all) in the fridge they stay fresh and protected from feline shenanigans while I’m away. My favorites are white hydrangeas and I’m hoping to start growing my own at some point. What kind of flowers do you love to have around?

No. 2 – Save the Empties

Save The Empties Wine Bottle Candle

Last month, my stepbrother, Christopher, opened his own Etsy shop called Save the Empties, where he sells scented 100% premium soy wax candles made in used beer and wine bottles. You guys, they are amazing!!! The scent combinations are perfect and the prices are super affordable. Plus, you are helping keep bottles out of the landfill! I have several of these candles in my home and the scents are not at all overwhelming, but smooth and inviting. If you are looking for a new kind of candle, then definitely check it out. Contact SavetheEmpties {dot} Etsy {at} gmail {dot} com for more details on custom orders.

No. 3 – Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Nail Polish (in Birthday Suit)

Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Nail Polish

I’m one of those people who are super picky about nail polish. I love to wear it, but I can not stand when it starts to chip, so I either have to remove it completely and/or redo it. And it seems that I have less time to do anything right now, so I really appreciate a polish with staying power! Sally Hansen’s Miracle Gel Nail Polish is great. It looks and wears like a gel manicure, but there is no extra light needed. I’ve been digging light colors for my hands lately and I think that the color Birthday Suit is just perfect. Usually, I can get about 4-5 days of chip free manicure, which makes this busy girl happy!

So, those are the things I’m lovin’ this month? Anything you want to recommend? I would love for you to share, so I can try it out too!
