And this month, since we are wrapping up the end of the year, we thought we would share our own favorite projects from Elizabeth Joan Designs.
Emily’s Favorites
1. Lavender Wreath – Simple. Easy. Beautiful. Enough said.
2. Boxes Into Baskets – You can never have too many inexpensive storage options.
3. Range Hood Makeover – Spray painting in the kitchen. Who knew it would turn out so well?
4. Half Bathroom Reveal – This bathroom was screaming for a makeover and it got what it asked for.
5. Dining Table – This custom built dining table is Emily’s favorite project to date. It was challenging to make, but had a wonderful end result.
Erin’s Favorites
1. Lazy Upholstering – Easy projects that look great are at the top of my list.
2. Simple Silhouette – This classic DIY piece of work looks more like a painting than a piece of black card stock on a white background.
3. Painting Upholstery – Who would have thought you could makeover some fabric furniture with a can of latex paint?
4. Wire Mesh Pin Board – Definitely prettier that a cork bulletin board.
5. Vintage Inspired Chalk Cloth Map – Chalk Cloth may just be the coolest DIY item ever!

Two Sisters. Bad Photos.
As Emily mentioned in her post last week, we got to see each other for the first time since we’ve started working on this blog back in June. (I believe it was actually on our family vacation to the Smoky Mountains in May, that we finalized our plans to give this dual blogging gig a go.) You may have noticed the photo of us over there on the side bar, and I must admit, it is a bit dated. Like several years ago. We live almost 400 miles apart, so grabbing a quick pic is not something we can do any ol’ afternoon. So, we made plans to take a better and updated version when we met up.
What we did not do, was plan on the days going so fast, my speed light breaking, or our children being needy. Because what child actually needs their parents? Certainly not mine. I usually like to just give them some matches and knives and let them have at it. Just kidding.
Anyway, by the time we were both free enough to pose for a pic, we were both slap happy, the lighting was horrible, the camera battery was dead and neither one of my children were sleeping. (Extra points to Em, whose children had passed out earlier.) So we had to resort to blurry selfies on the iPhone, which are totally not blog profile worthy. However, they are totally great for this post of “what not to do when you want a good photo for your blog.”
This pixel-y shot may possibly be the best and was taken by my daughter. We hate it. (That’s Emily on the left and me on the right, in case you didn’t know who was who already.)
We know that these photos are by no means professional or serious, but we figured they would help give a little bit of a view into our personalities and lives. And how we act when we’re way over tired. Plus, as an added bonus, they were totally DIYed. We wouldn’t want to stray from the norm too much. *Wink* Now back to our regularly scheduled programming.

Things Have Changed
Yup, that’s right. This past weekend we updated our blog and added some new features, although, hopefully things still look fairly similar to how they did before. What exactly did we do, you ask? Well, let me tell you…
1. After installing a new theme, we tested things out on multiple browsers (Firefox, Safari, Chrome, Internet Explorer, etc.) and on a handful of devices (laptop, iPad, Nook, iPhone, old school Blackberry.) Luckily, so far we have only found a few issues with Internet Explorer not showing our header, but other than that everything seems to be looking OK from our end.
2. We have had several requests for posts by email, so now, in addition to our rss feed, you can now get our posts delivered directly to your inbox, if you so desire. You can sign up over there on the bottom of the sidebar.
3. On the social network front, we’ve finally joined the Twitter bandwagon, although we are still trying to get a grasp on how the whole thing works. You can follow us here.
4. We’ve also now made it easier than ever for you to pin our projects on Pinterest. Just hover over the photo you want to pin and click on the icon. Super easy!
So, that is it. It was a lot of work on this end, with our minimal coding knowledge and all, but hopefully everything still looks good on your end. Please, if you see any glitches, don’t hesitate to let us know!
