    Baby Boy Farmhouse Nursery Reveal

How can our sweet littlest guy be almost 6 months old already??? Time in the NICU seemed so long, but since he has been home things have just flown by. Especially, since summer vacation for the bigger kids is here. I’m happy to announce though, that we have finally finished up the nursery! Today I’m sharing all of the details and sources in our Baby Boy Farmhouse Nursery Reveal!

This space has come a long way from the walk-in closet that it used to be. Coming in at only 4’3″ x 7’6″, designing in such a small room was definitely a challenge, but one that we were excited to tackle!

We knew that we would need a few basics, like a crib and small dresser to hold clothes and accessories. We were also able to work in a little bit of hidden storage. But my favorite part of this nursery is the farmhouse decor!

    Baby Farm Animals Bedroom

If shiplap doesn’t scream modern farmhouse, then I don’t know what does.

After we removed all of the old wire shelving, the walls got a simple shiplap treatment thanks to my hubby. Then, we painted them with Sherwin Williams paint in Alabaster. I also added these adorable baby farm animal prints in some Ikea frames.

The vintage looking farmhouse light above the prints is a fun addition too! After seeing the “Magic Light Trick” that Brooke from Nesting with Grace does, I knew that this hack would be great for the nursery. (I purchased the puck lights with remotes I used here.) And since there wasn’t any electrical wiring to be done, I was able to install the light by myself in just a few minutes!

We are hoping that the tiny, mini crib will be able to hold our little guy for awhile. The mattress height is adjustable and the crib can also convert to a toddler bed and twin bed with or without the foot board option.

The neutral, vintage-look rug is the perfect soft spot for our little man to stretch out and kick right now. It will also be a great place for him to play as he gets bigger!

    Gray Vintage Oriental Rug Nursery

I love that all of our kids have been able to use this small dresser.

It was one that my parents passed on to us and it is perfect for holding baby clothes, burp cloths, accessories, and a few baby toys. The oval chalkboard was a Christmas gift and we have been using it for the little Snuggler’s monthly photos.

I found this gray hanging storage at Babies R Us right before they went out of business and I’m so glad I did. (Here is a similar option.) I use it to corral extra diapers, wipes, etc. that don’t fit in our diaper bag or the diaper caddy we move from room to room.

    Small Nursery Gray Bedroom Storage

See that ruffle-y crib skirt below? I made it out of an old sheet! It helps to hide an under-bed storage bin that keeps all of the receiving blankets and extra crib sheets tucked away. There is also a little space on each side of the crib that we use to store a boppy and play mat when they aren’t in use.

It’s all about being creative with your storage space, folks!

    Tiny Nursery Bedroom Makeover

We just love how this room has turned out and that our baby boy has a room to call his own. It’s an added bonus that it’s attached right to our bedroom so that we are just a few steps away if he needs us at night!

    Baby Boy Farmhouse Nursery

Happy 2018, Friends! You may have missed the arrival of our little bundle earlier last month. (January 12th to be exact!) Our little guy came a few months early at only 29 weeks and is currently hanging out in the NICU while he grows and his lungs get a bit stronger. Since we weren’t quite expecting him to make his debut so soon, we hadn’t made any progress on what would be our baby boy farmhouse nursery!

As you may know, the Country House isn’t a mansion. With only 3 bedrooms (all occupied) we were stumped as to where we would put the newest addition. Of course, he could share a room with one of his siblings, but since they are both a bit older and need to get a good nights sleep for school, we were hoping for a more private spot for the little guy. At least for the baby/toddler phase.

After some brainstorming, we decided to transform the walk-in closet in our bedroom into a tiny nursery. Fancy, huh?

    Closet Turned Nursery

    Walk In Closet Before

The closet room is pretty tiny, so there won’t be a ton of space, but we are working with what we’ve got. So far, we’ve been able to move things around and relocate our clothing/shoes/etc. to another closet just outside of our bedroom. It is now time to really get working on converting this into a livable bedroom for our little guy, hopefully before he comes home from the hospital!

Here’s the mood board I whipped up for inspiration…

I’m excited to get working on this little room and if we are lucky, we will be able to get this pulled together sooner rather than later. Wish us luck!

    Holiday Gift Guide – Etsy

The holidays are fast approaching and this year I wanted to put together a gift guide of some of our favorite home decor products exclusively from Etsy! As you already probably know, Etsy is an online marketplace where you can buy unique, custom, or vintage items. All of the following products are items that we own/love and are featured throughout our home.

    Lila & Lola

Aren’t this calf and donkey the cutest? While coming up with a design plan for our little guy’s nursery, I came across these fun digital download prints and knew that I had to incorporate them into the room.

    PCBHome

I have admired this shop for several years because of the pretty calligraphy that they do for all of their pieces. They sell many different kinds of handmade home decor items, but I think I love the throw pillows the best!

    White Farmhouse Christmas Living Room

    Carpenter Farmhouse

What better way to invite someone into your home than a pretty welcome sign? This shop creates beautiful laser cut, letters/words, as well as fun cake toppers.

     Bubs & Windy

We have loved having this play mat so much! Since I pretty much decorate our home with neutral colors, finding baby items that don’t jump out and scream “day care center” was important. Our little guy has loved hanging out on this soft mat and learning to roll/play here.

    Cherie Kay Signs

Cherie is one of the sweetest shop owners that I’ve met and she creates the loveliest of signs. This one in our master bedroom is huge and such a simple, but beautiful design.

    Linen & Ivory

The owner of this shop, Kendra, is also just a sweetheart. Her shop has so many fun designs for almost any holiday/season/occasion. I think we have at least 10 of this shop’s pillows and hand towels!

    New Dining Chairs Wicker Parsons

    Save the Empties

Speaking of shop owner’s, I had to add my step-brother’s amazing candles to this post. I love the he hand cuts and reuses empty beer/wine bottles to make all of his 100% premium soy wax, scented candles. They are a fun and unique gift for sure.

    Vivid Atelier

Something about cute animal prints always pulls on my heartstrings. And this beautiful digital download deer print did not disappoint. This shop also has cool typography, botanical, and other prints for awesomely inexpensive prices.

Create Extra Storage In The Entryway

Since we’ve moved to The Country House, something that we’ve struggled with is storage space.  Especially, after we turned our master closet into a sweet little nursery. Living in only 1300 square feet with 5 people makes finding or adding storage solutions many times difficult. However, we’ve been able to create an entryway with extra storage by whipping up a cool Ikea shoe storage hack!

Once we knew that our master closet was going to be transformed, we had to come up with a game plan for all of the stuff already inside.

We sorted and donated the things we didn’t love. Our clothing took up residence in a small hallway closet. But that left us with no place for our shoes, hats, belts, scarves, etc. We did try to hang a shoe rack over the inside of the closet door. However, the shoes hit the hanging clothes and fell off the rack constantly. It was just a huge mess!

    Entryway Ikea Shoe Cabinet Hack

After some brainstorming and online storage system browsing, we decided to buy two Ikea shoe storage cabinets and add them to our entry area. The original set up of each cabinet left several inches of space between the center of the cabinets. They ended up extending beyond the hallway wall just a bit, which looked pretty wonky.

Create An Entryway With Extra Storage

So, we decided to remove the original tops, slide the cabinets together, and attach a new stained/painted top to make them look more like one unit. We also replaced the old knobs for some ring pulls that have a more unique look.

Each cabinet is supposed to hold a minimum of 12 pairs of shoes, but depending on the size and style, you can definitely fit more.  I’m a size 7.5-8 and have over 20 pairs inside of one cabinet!

    Small Space Shoe Storage Cabinet

I love the extra drawers at the top of the cabinets too! Perfect for cold weather accessories.

    Entryway Decor Storage

    Magnolia Wreath | Rain Boots

You truly realize how much stuff you have when you don’t have a place to put it. Adding this shoe cabinet storage to our entryway has helped us with a major storage struggle. The depth of the cabinets is perfect for our small space and doesn’t impose too much on the room. We are so happy with how this project/hack turned out!
