Book Page Candle Holder
This month, I’m joining up for my first Create & Share Challenge, hosted by Casa Watkins and Pocketful of Posies!
So wait… what is this challenge?
Well, participants are tasked with using their personal decor style to create a project centering around one main item. And this month, we are working with candles! For this project, I chose to share the Book Page Candle Holder that I whipped up a few months ago.

I love candles of all kinds and it is so much fun to decorate with them. Especially when they look pretty and match your existing decor. So many yummy scents, but also tons of styles and colors. Taper, pillar, tealight, oil, soy, square, round. The possibilities are endless. There are even battery powered candles, which is what I chose to work with for this project.
To make these super simple book page candle holders, you will need:
- Clear Glass Candle Holder
- Book Pages
- Mod Podge (or clear tape or glue)
- Paint/Craft Brush
- Scissors
- Battery Powered Candle
I started out by cutting out the book pages and trimming around the text so there were fewer blank spaces. (If you don’t want to cut apart a real book, you can find printable pages online.) Then, after measuring my candle holders, I cut the pages to the correlating height.
I used 3 page pieces for one candle holder, but you may prefer to use more or less.
Using a paint brush, I applied the Mod Podge to the end of two pieces of paper and overlapped the other pieces on top. If you don’t have Mod Podge, you can glue or tape the pieces together. (I already had Mod Podge out, so I just used that.)
Then, I added the book page insert to the inside of candle holder, making a round shape and overlapping the end pieces. Easy Peasy. Feel free to adhere the ends together for a cleaner look.
All that is left is to drop in a little battery powered candle and you are finished. (Please do not use a candle with an open flame. Your book pages may catch fire!)
I love the clean look of these book page candle holders.
They are so simple to whip up and you can add a new look to your decor without commitment if you decide to change things up later. I even experimented with adding some wrapping paper in place of the book pages, which gives you so many more options.
These would look great as a table centerpiece with candle holders of varying heights or lighting a walkway to the front door. Also, since they use battery-powered candles, they are kid and pet safe.

Book Page Wreath
It is super cold here right now. A thick layer of snow is covering the ground and the wind is blowing like a banshee. And apparently it is only supposed to get colder in the coming days. Like frost bite cold. So what do you do when it is freezing outside and your eyelashes freeze from the tears being blown out of your ducts by the wind? You DIY a book page wreath, of course. All you need are a few supplies and a couple of hours. Yes, I said hours, because these things take time. So grab your favorite movies and start a marathon.
Book page wreaths are nothing new. I’ve made a few over the years and Emily just shared a cool way to decorate a gift with one. There are a million different ways to do it, but my favorite way is to roll the pages into a cone shape.
My supplies for this wreath include:
– Book from the dollar store
– Wreath form of some sort
– Craft knife or scissors
– Glue gun
– Glue sticks, lots of themI may have felt a little bit bad that I had to murder a book for this project, especially since is had such good reviews on Amazon, but it only cost a buck, so it was worth it.
To start out, I used my craft knife to cut out a bunch of pages from the book and then ripped a few of them into strips.
The strips were then wrapped around a homemade cardboard wreath form. I usually buy wreath forms from the dollar store, but they were sold out, so I had to improvise.
Next, I started rolling papers. That sounds a little weird, huh? I rolled individual book pages into a cone type shape and added a spot of glue on the side to secure them.
Working on one side of the covered wreath form, I attached the rolled pages, one by one, all the way around the circle.
Aren’t glue guns wonderful? My blistered fingers are telling another story, but I quite enjoy the ease of attachment that the handy little
phalanges burnerglue gun provides.
Once I was finished with the first side, I flipped it over and started gluing more pages onto the second side, kind of staggering them between the ones behind them.
The rest of the wreath is completed by adding more layers on top of the previous ones and gradually moving everything in towards the middle until desired fullness is achieved. For this wreath, I used only fours layers of rolled book pages, but I’ve done up to seven in the past. It all depends on how much time and how many fingers you are willing to sacrifice.
When you are finished, you can hang your wreath up on a door hanger or over a mirror. Both look quite lovely. Oh, and try not to glare too hard at anyone who comes within a few feet of it, threatening the hard work and long hours you put into your beautiful literary work.

Neutral Fall Vignette and Fall Festival Blog Hop
Hello Friends! I’ve had a nice little break from the blog, but I’m back. I’m sharing a little neutral fall vignette that I whipped up for the occasion.

In my opinion, fall is best season and is so much fun to decorate for. I love all pumpkins, but the white ones are by far my favorites.
To create this little vignette, I pulled together random decor pieces from our home, keeping the color pallette simple. An old window anchors everything, while a white cake stand and a few books help group items together. I also added in some greenery to vary the height.
This cute book page banner was so easy to make! Just type out your letters in a Word document and print out on a book page. Then cut them out in whatever shape you want and tape the backs to some string. Easy peasy!

Master Bedroom/Bedroom Progress: Room by Room Summer Series Week Five
I’m so glad you are here to take a look into our Master Bedroom Progress! It’s the 5th week of the Room by Room Summer Challenge and we are wanting to you get cozy with us in the in the “Owner’s Suite”. Ha! Who am I kidding? This is barely even a master bedroom since it is only a couple of feet bigger than the rest of the bedrooms.
We are currently working on giving this room a little bit of an update on a budget, but I wanted to share how our bedroom has changed since we’ve moved in.
BEFORE
Yikes! That carpet was pretty rough! Like the rest of our house, our bedroom floors were all updated by my handy hubby. After a little bit of trim paint and new curtains, our bedroom was looking better, but it still needed some help.
DURING
We just added this new DIY barn wood headboard (below) and we love it! Since we are currently working on this room, I’m not going to go into detail about what we are planning to do in this post, but it is looking pretty good so far. (You can read all about the mini makeover here.)
So, I missed last week’s Bedrooms post for the Room by Room Summer Series. Since I’m not getting too deep into our master bedroom details, I thought I would share a little bit about our other bedrooms.
Tween Daughter’s Room
Our daughter’s room was the first room with fixed up when we moved in. Redoing this room was also our first experience with the One Room Challenge and it definitely went from drab to fab!

Our daughter loves her room now! However, there may be a few small tweaks in this room’s future.
We want to add some shelving to the wall for a bit more storage. And maybe some sort of book page art for our avid reader!
Son’s Room
Once our Master Bedroom mini makeover is over, the next room on our to-do list is our son’s bedroom.
BEFORE
Thankfully, there won’t be a ton to do in here to get it finished. The little guy wants a shark themed room, so we will incorporate a few fun decor items and give it a bit of nautical feel. Hopefully, we can make that jive with the farmhouse look of the rest of the house. All of the furniture, except for a bookcase we purchase last year, is from his room in our previous house, as well as the bedding.
